Winter Deaths
South West highest for Winter Deaths.
Figures released by the National Office of Statistics last November (2015), put the South West Region highest on the list for "Excess Winter Deaths", with Wales the lowest. The report highlights the efforts made to improve energy efficiency but this is masked due to all new builds being included in the figures. Further analysis of the energy efficiency statistics show that 97.2% of improvements were made in urban areas with only 2.8% being in Rural Areas.

The 2015 Analysis of Mortality show Winter Deaths show an increase of % over 2014, the period Jan-Mar showed an increase of 24,065 compared with the previous year, with influenza as the most common cause, those with dementia and respiratory diseases are particularly vulnerable with difficulties with self-care, and falls, being quoted as contributary factors
